In Love Lies Inspiration

When I reach for inspiration, it comes in a kaleidoscope of colors. Maybe my stimulus is a glimpse of a couple walking hand in hand down a quiet, tree-lined street. Their eyes imprison a thousand tiny secrets. Maybe my muse comes from a tragic headline that sinks her sharp fangs deep into my flesh. Many times, words carefully written onto gleaming white pages paint a soft watercolor image in my mind that encourages my creations.
Today the inspiration I want to reveal is the provocation that radiates from the silver screen. If you’re like me, once in a while you read a story that becomes so much a part of your reality, that you see everything from the ruby red of her lipstick to the faded pink wad of gum stuck to the sidewalk. You yearn for the image in your head to personify.
Unfortunately, because we’re all different, we create these images to reflect our own experience. Our own circumstance. Our own desire. Often, our mind has the capability of creating a story far more beautiful than reality can accommodate. So, when words are scraped from the pages and humanized, we are often disappointed the version created is not the version we visualized so clearly in our mind.
With that said, the silver screen has brought us many memorable, swoon worthy romances over the years. Some swiped from the pages that lie flat between two covers, and others created solely for the silver screen. These romances were born of the intense on-screen chemistry created by the actors who played the roles with passion and the directors who embraced their clear vision.
To all of the swoon worthy couples who make our hearts beat a little faster, or our tears flood a little deeper, thank you for the inspiration.
